“We cannot all do great things, but we can do small things with great love, and together we can do something wonderful.”

– Mother Teresa

Sponsorship has the power to change the life of a child living with special needs in Kenya, and to provide critical support to families caring for children with disabilities.

For just $50 a month, you’ll help an extremely vulnerable child to receive medical attention (includes all regular care as well as any therapy or surgery), appropriate educational placement when possible, home based care and support to families, and advocacy in their community. Most importantly, you’ll be showing God’s love in a personal way to a special child.

Below, meet the children who are waiting to be sponsored by someone like you.

Melisa Vihenda

Age: 13

Melisa lives in rural Kenya and has a physical disability.

Melisa lives with her single mother and siblings. Her father abandoned the family. Born in Maseno Mission Hospital, Melisa is the youngest of five children. She was born healthy, but later developed a walking disability due to club feet. She is scheduled for corrective limb surgery. With the help of a sponsor, Melisa's health care will be fully covered under a health insurance plan. Melisa loves to play with toys with other girls. She has never walked so she plays seated most of the time. With the help of a sponsor, Melisa will continue to attend the Daisy Special School, where she will have the opportunity to reach her full potential.
